American actor Anthony Marc Shalhoub was born on October 9, 1953. His Arabic name is He is well-known for playing a range of parts on stage and screen, from dramatic to humorous. Five Emmys, a Golden Globe, six Screen Actors Guild Awards, a Tony Award, and a Grammy Award nomination are just a few of the honours he has garnered.

From 1991 to 1997, he played Antonio Scarpacci in the NBC sitcom Wings, which was his breakthrough role. Later, he played Adrian Monk in the USA Network series Monk (2002–2009), for which he received the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series and three Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. He received the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his supporting performance as Abe Weissman, a professor who became an activist and critic in the Amazon period comedy-drama The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel (2017–2023).
