Mysore Seshaiah Suresh Babu Naidu is a versatile figure in the Indian entertainment industry, recognized for his roles as an actor, producer, director, and dubbing artist. He has predominantly showcased his talents in the Tamil and Telugu film sectors. Suresh’s roots trace back to Sri Kalhasthi, where he was born, and his family has strong connections to the same region, including his parents and grandfather.
Suresh embarked on his professional journey by initially working as an editing and dance assistant. Despite initial challenges, his potential as a lead actor was recognized by a friend of his father. Although his initial attempt to make an impression with director C. V. Sridhar didn’t succeed, fate turned in his favor as he eventually secured lead roles in three of Sridhar’s films. His breakthrough came with the movies “Panneer Pushpangal” (1981), where he was cast in the lead role by director duo Santhana Bharathi and P. Vasu. Suresh had a choice between the lead role in “Alaigal Oivathillai” (1981) by Bharathiraja and “Panneer Pushpangal,” and he chose the latter, a decision that led to both films achieving significant commercial success. Throughout the 1980s, he became a prominent face in the Tamil Film Industry, often portraying romantic roles. He also ventured into production, creating four films and seven television serials before temporarily stepping back from the limelight during the 1990s. This period saw him diversify his career in the Telugu cinema scene.
After a hiatus, Suresh made a noteworthy comeback to Tamil cinema in 2006 through “Kizhakku Kadalkarai Salai,” where he played supporting roles, including “Aasal” (2010) alongside Ajith Kumar. In 2012, he showcased his versatility by portraying a character named Akilan undergoing a mid-life crisis in the Tamil-Telugu bilingual film “Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi,” directed by Balaji Mohan. This performance received praise from reviewers, with The Hindu highlighting the effectiveness of the entire cast. Beyond his acting roles, Suresh demonstrated his versatile talents by hosting and judging six seasons of the competitive cooking game show “Kitchen Superstar” for Vijay TV. His contributions extended to the world of dubbing and voice-over artistry, as he lent his voice to renowned actors such as Ajith Kumar and Nagarjuna for several films. Additionally, from 2018 to 2020, he shared the screen with Khushbu Sundar in the bilingual daily serial “Lakshmi Stores.”
