Sravanthi Ravi Kishore, a prominent Telugu film producer, made a significant mark in the industry by establishing “Sri Sravanthi Movies” three decades ago. Regarded as one of India’s largest film production companies, he has gained acclaim for his exceptional contributions to movies like Ladies Tailer, Nuvve Kavavali, Nuvve Naku Nachav, and Ready. Hailing from Andhra Pradesh, Sravanthi Ravi Kishore’s influence extends beyond production, as his sibling, Ram Pothineni, is a well-known actor in the Telugu film fraternity.
Sravanthi Ravi Kishore’s accolades include the Nandi Award for Best Home-Viewing Feature Film for Navvu Naku Nachav in 2003. In 2004, he secured the Best Feature Film award for Nuvve Nuvve and replicated this success in 2009 with the Best Feature Film award for Ready. His film Nayakan, inspired by the classic American movie The Godfather, received widespread appreciation, winning multiple awards at the National Film Awards, including Best Actor, Best Cinematography, and Best Art Direction.
It was also India’s official submission for the 60th Academy Awards. Pushpak Vimana, another gem in Sravanthi Ravi Kishore’s repertoire, won the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment in 1998. This film also clinched prestigious Filmfare Awards for Best Film, Best Art Director, and Best Actor. It gained international recognition with premieres at the International Film Festival of India, 1998 Cannes Film Festival, Shanghai Film Festival, and Whistling Woods International Institute.
One of Sravanthi Ravi Kishore’s standout productions, Ready, starring Ram and Genelia D’Souza, garnered global acclaim and numerous award nominations, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Supporting Actor. Ready was remade in Kannada as Raam, in Tamil as Uttama Puthiran, and in Hindi as Ready, featuring Salman Khan and Asin. Nuvvu Naaku Nachav, another blockbuster from Sravanthi Ravi Kishore’s portfolio, earned the Nandi Award for the Best Home-Viewing Feature Film. This film found its way into remakes in Kannada as Gorwamma and in Tamil as Vaseegara.
Nuvve Kavali, another hit under his production, attracted a massive audience, with three crore people watching it in theaters, making it a resounding success even on its 100th day of release. Despite the negative reviews and audience reception for Shivam, released to commemorate the 30th anniversary of his production company, Sravanthi Ravi Kishore continued to contribute to the industry.
His latest venture, Nenu Sailaja, starring Ram Pothineni and Keerthy Suresh, achieved commercial success and was remade in Hindi as The Super Khiladi 3. In addition to producing films, Sravanthi Ravi Kishore stepped into the directorial role with the Telugu Action-Romantic movie Nuvvu Nenu Lechipodama, featuring Mounika, Appu, and Ravi Dondapati, showcasing his versatility and commitment to storytelling in the film industry.
