Siva Nageswara Rao is a prominent Indian film director and screenwriter renowned for his contributions to Telugu cinema, particularly in the realm of comedy films. His filmography boasts several notable works, including “Money” (1993), “Money Money” (1994), “Lucky Chance” (1994), “Sisindri” (1995), “Pattukondi Chooddaam” (1997), “Hands Up!” (2000), “Dhanalakshmi, I Love You” (2002), “Mr & Mrs Sailaja Krishnamurthy” (2004), and “Bhookailas” (2007).
Siva Nageswara Rao’s journey in the Telugu film industry began in 1979 when he moved to Madras at the age of 23, aiming to make a mark as a filmmaker. His initial months in the industry were marked by challenges, during which he even took on unofficial roles as a junior artist in films like “Burripalem Bullodu” and “Sannayi Appanna” to sustain himself.
His career took a significant turn when he became an assistant director, starting with his association with Vijaya Nirmala, where he contributed to films such as “Antham Kaadidi Aarambham” and “Doctor Cine Actor” (1982). Subsequently, he collaborated with V. Madhusudhana Rao on “Jagannatha Ratha Chakraalu,” Lenin Babu on “Maro Kurukshetram,” and S. A. Chandrasekhar on “Devanthakudu” (1984), “Balidaanam,” and “Intiko Rudramma.” For six years, he was an integral part of Kranthi Kumar’s direction team, beginning with “Swathi” (1984).
During the making of the film “Rao Gaari Illu” (1988), Siva Nageswara Rao crossed paths with Ram Gopal Varma, and both worked as assistant directors on the project. Their collaboration continued, and Varma invited Siva Nageswara Rao to assist in the making of “Siva” (1989), to which he readily agreed. Siva Nageswara Rao made his directorial debut with the film “Money” (1993), produced by Ram Gopal Varma, marking the beginning of his successful career as a director.
