Satish Ravilal Shah, an acclaimed Indian actor, is widely recognized for his comedic performances in notable films such as Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro (1983), Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi (1984), Sarabhai vs Sarabhai (2004), Main Hoon Na (2004), Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003), Fanaa (2006), and Om Shanti Om (2007).
In 2008, he shared the judging panel of Comedy Circus with Archana Puran Singh. Furthermore, in 2015, he assumed the role of a member in the Film and Television Institute of India society.
Hailing from Mandvi and belonging to the Kutchi Gujarati community, Satish Shah pursued his education at Xavier’s College before enrolling at the Film and Television Institute of India. Notably, his prominence extends to the 1984 sitcom Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, where, under the direction of Kundan Shah and Manjul Sinha, he portrayed an impressive 55 characters across 55 episodes. Additionally, he played the character of Prakash in the 1995 Zee TV series Filmy Chakkar, consisting of 50 episodes. His notable roles also include the character of Indravadhan Sarabhai in the renowned 2004 television show Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, alongside Ratna Pathak Shah.
In the 1984 film Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, directed by Kundan Shah, Satish Shah took on the role of Municipal Commissioner D’Mello. Although primarily celebrated for his comedic prowess, he showcased versatility by playing diverse character roles throughout the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s. Commencing his cinematic journey with Arvind Desai Ki Ajeeb Dastaan in 1978, Satish Shah has accumulated an impressive portfolio of over 250 feature films. Beyond Bollywood, he showcased his comedic judgment as a judge in the Comedy Circus laughter contest.
