Ryan Gosling

Biography:

Actor Ryan Thomas Gosling  was born in Canada on November 12, 1980. In addition to being nominated for three Academy Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, and two British Academy Film Awards, he has received recognition for his work in both independent and major studio productions, including a Golden Globe Award.

At the age of 13, Gosling made his acting debut on The All New Mickey Mouse Club (1993–1995) on the Disney Channel. He later made appearances in other family-friendly shows, such as Goosebumps (1996) and Are You Afraid of the Dark? (1995). He had his breakthrough in the 2001 film The Believer as a Jewish neo-Nazi, and he became well-known in the romance drama The Notebook in 2004. He acted in the critically praised indie dramas Lars and the Real Girl (2007), Blue Valentine (2010), and Half Nelson (2006), for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor.

The action thriller Drive, the political drama The Ides of March, and the romantic comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love were Gosling’s three major hits in 2011. He acted in the romantic musical La La Land (2016), the action comedy The Nice Guys (2016), and the financial satire The Big Short (2015) after directing his first film, Lost River (2014). The latter earned him a Golden Globe and a second nomination for Best Actor at the Academy Awards. The biographical First Man (2018) and the science fiction movie Blade Runner 2049 (2017) received even more praise. He played Ken in the fantasy comedy Barbie in 2023, which became his highest-grossing film and for which he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the Academy Awards.

In 2009, Gosling’s band, Dead Man’s Bones, went on a North American tour and published their self-titled debut album. He shares ownership of Beverly Hills, California’s Tagine, a Moroccan eatery. Supporting organizations like PETA, Invisible Children, and the Enough Project, he has visited eastern Congo, Uganda, and Chad to spread awareness of local issues. He has spent more than ten years working to promote peace in Africa. He has two kids with actress Eva Mendes, with whom he is now dating.
