Rajesh Balachandiran, originally from Madurai, completed his M.A. and M.Phil. in English Literature in his hometown before pursuing a three-year diploma in Acting from the National School of Drama in New Delhi. During his training, he had the privilege of learning from esteemed mentors such as Nasaruddin Shah, Adil Hussain, Noushad, and a group of practitioners following Grotowski’s techniques from Poland, among others.
Since 2002, Rajesh has been associated with the Nigazh theatre group under the leadership of actor Shanmugaraja, where he has actively participated in over a thousand performances across the country. He also served as the Dean of Acting at Anupam Kher’s Actor Prepares in Chennai, which later evolved into Rafta under the guidance of veteran actor Radhika Sarathkumar. Additionally, he is the founder of the Empty Space Actor Studio.
