Raghuram

Biography:

Raghuram was an Indian dance choreographer who was born into a Tamil brahmin family and who is also the grandson of the actor Krishnaswami Subhramanyam. Raghuram started learning Kathakali at an early age of 5 from his Guru Gopinath. Later he switched to Bharata Natyam under Dancer K.J Sarasa. He debuted in a movie as a child actor in the film Padikkadha medhai in the year 1960. It was during a dance performance with Jayalalitha where he was asked to assist the Dance director for M.G.R. Movie. He then started out on his own in 1974 and created his career in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi film industries. He has worked on several films with Kamal Haasan including the famous film Sagara Sangamam in 1983 and he later performed alongside Kamal Haasan in the film Dasavathaaram. He also worked with the most influential film star of India A.K.A Rajinikanth Apart from his acting and dancing career Raghuram also directed few films like The Bengali Film and Bhagya Debata starring Rajinikanth and Mithun Chakraborty.

He has two daughters, who are also involved in the film industry. His first daughter, Suja Raghuram, appeared in Kannada and Malayalam language films while also being a prominent television actress. Gayathri Raghuram, his second daughter, has also appeared in films as an actress and a choreographer.
