Biography:

Prakash Rao Kovelamudi, a versatile Indian filmmaker, screenwriter, and actor, has made a notable impact on the world of alternative cinema across various languages. His impressive body of work includes films such as “Morning Raga” (2004), marking his Bollywood acting debut. Following this, he ventured into directing and achieved critical acclaim with projects like “Bommalata” (2004), which received the Best Film in Telugu at the 53rd National Film Awards, the fantasy film “Anaganaga O Dheerudu” (2011), and the black comedy “Judgementall Hai Kya” (2019). Prakash’s cinematic journey has been enriched by his education at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. He is the son of veteran director K. Raghavendra Rao and the grandson of K. S. Prakash Rao.

In his acting career, Prakash Kovelamudi made his debut in the Telugu film “Neetho.” He was initially set to act in a fantasy film directed by Rajamouli, but the project was eventually shelved. He also appeared in “Morning Raga.” His directorial ventures include “Bommalata,” a film aptly named “A Belly Full of Dreams,” and the Telugu fantasy movie “Anaganaga O Dheerudu,” distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. Prakash also helmed “Size Zero,” known as “Inji Iduppazhagi,” featuring Arya and Anushka Shetty. His most recent directorial endeavor, “Judgemental Hai Kya,” is a thought-provoking black comedy that addresses mental health issues.

On a personal note, Prakash Kovelamudi tied the knot with Kanika Dhillon in 2014, but the couple went their separate ways and got divorced in 2017. His professional journey, marked by diverse roles as an actor, director, and screenwriter, continues to make a significant contribution to the world of cinema.
