Pasi Sathya is an Indian actress known primarily for her work in Tamil cinema and television. She began her acting career in the National award-winning Tamil film “Pasi” in 1979, where she played the role of Chellamma, a friend of the main lead. Following this film, she adopted the prefix “Pasi” to her name. Over the course of more than 40 years, Sathya has acted in over 250 films and has been part of around 2000 stage plays.
Hailing from Madurai, Sathya’s journey into acting began with school plays, and she eventually moved to Chennai to focus on theater. She acted in numerous stage productions alongside legendary actors like MGR and Sivaji. The veteran actress P. Bhanumathi Ramakrishna bestowed upon her the nickname “Pasi Sathya.”
Throughout her film career, Sathya has played character roles in Tamil cinema and is well-regarded for her versatile acting abilities. Some notable films in her repertoire include “Poovellam Kettuppar” (1999), “Shahjahan” (2001), and “Anbe Sivam” (2003), in which she shared the screen with Kamal Haasan. Her contributions to Tamil cinema have earned her recognition, and she has received awards such as the Kalaimamani award from the Tamil Nadu Government and the Kalaichelvam award from the South Indian Artists Association.
Besides her film work, Sathya has also made a mark in Tamil television, appearing in series like “Chithi,” “Chellame,” “Annamalai,” and “Ilavarasi.” She continues to be an active presence on the small screen, currently playing a supporting role in the Tamil TV series “Poove Unakkaga” on Sun TV. Sathya is married to a retired government employee and has two children.
