Nizar Shafi is a notable Tamil cinematographer and film director originally hailing from Chennai, Tamil Nadu. His journey into the world of cinema began after completing his 12th grade when he decided to follow his passion for art and visuals. Instead of pursuing a traditional path like his father, who was a doctor.
Nizar chose to forge his own unique career by enrolling in the MGR Government Film and Television Training Institute in Chennai, where he earned his cinematography diploma. Nizar’s love for the visual medium had been a constant in his life since childhood, and he was determined to turn that passion into a fulfilling career.
Following the completion of his studies, he gained valuable experience by working under the guidance of seasoned cinematographers like Sakthi Saravanan, particularly on projects like “Saroja” and “Mankatha.” Additionally, he had the opportunity to assist the renowned Director of Photography Rathnavelu. His journey also included a stint as an assistant cinematographer on the film “Enthiran”.
Nizar Shafi’s career truly took off when he began working as a cinematographer on various films, including “Sutta Kadhai,” “Naaigal Jaakirathai,” “Bhale Bhale Magadivoy,” and “Nenu Local.” One of his notable achievements came in 2015 when “Bhale Bhale Magadivoy” was released and became the fourth-highest-grossing Telugu film at the United States box office, cementing his reputation in the industry.
In 2016, Nizar Shafi embarked on a new journey in his personal life as he married Neby N. Babu, and later, the couple was blessed with a child. This marked a significant milestone in his life outside of his flourishing career in cinematography and filmmaking.
