Biography:

Namitha Pramod, born on September 19, 1996, is a prominent Indian actress known for her work in Malayalam cinema. Hailing from Kottayam, she is the daughter of Pramod, a businessman, and Indu, a housewife. Namitha has a younger sister named Akhita Pramod. Her educational journey took her to Carmel Girls Higher Secondary School in Thiruvananthapuram, and later, she pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology at St. Teresa’s College, Kochi, emphasizing her commitment to education alongside her acting career.

Namitha’s foray into acting began in the seventh standard with roles in productions like “Vellankanni Mathavu,” “Amme Devi,” and “Ente Manasa Puthri.” Her breakthrough came with a role in Rajesh Pillai’s critically acclaimed film “Traffic.” Subsequently, she played her first lead role in “Puthiya Theerangal,” portraying a fisherwoman opposite Nivin Pauly.

The actress went on to secure lead roles in successful films like “Sound Thoma” with Dileep and “Pullipulikalum Aattinkuttiyum” with Kunchacko Boban, where she showcased her versatility by playing a Mohiniyattam dancer. Despite lacking prior training in Mohiniyattam, Namitha learned the dance steps at Saranya Mohan’s dance school in Alappuzha for four days. Her performances in these films earned her recognition, and she was honored as the Top Star (Female) in Malayalam for 2013.

Expanding her horizons, Namitha made her debut in Tamil cinema with “En Kadhal Pudhithu” and appeared in films like “Law Point” and Lal Jose’s “Vikramadithyan.” Her proficiency was evident when she portrayed the character of Deepika, a Konkani girl, in the latter, even speaking lines in Konkani, a language she hadn’t used before.

Namitha continued her success with films like “Villali Veeran” and “Ormayundo Ee Mukham.” In the latter, she received critical acclaim for her role, earning her a nomination at the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress. Besides her film career, Namitha has been a part of various commercials for brands like Bhima Jewellers, Francis Alukkas, and Ripple Tea.

Beyond the entertainment industry, Namitha ventured into entrepreneurship in 2023 by establishing Summer Town Cafe, a vintage cafe situated in Panampilly Nagar, Kochi. Her multi-faceted career reflects not only her acting prowess but also her commitment to education and business endeavors.
