Mounika, also known as Vijaya Rekha, is an Indian actress recognized for her work in South Indian films and Tamil television serials. She notably gained attention as the third wife of the acclaimed director, Balu Mahendra. Their relationship began in the mid-1990s, and they started living together in 1996. Despite getting married in 1998, they chose to disclose their marriage to the public only in 2004.

Balu Mahendra introduced Mounika to the film industry, casting her in the movie “Un Kannil Neer Vazhindal,” which premiered in 1985. This marked her entry into the world of cinema, laying the foundation for her subsequent work in both films and television serials. Mounika’s association with Balu Mahendra not only defined her personal life but also became a significant factor in her professional career, establishing her initial foothold in the film industry.
