She commenced her career as a child actor in the early 1990s, predominantly appearing in supporting roles. However, it was in the late 2000s that she transitioned to lead roles. Some of her most memorable performances were in films like “Azhagi,” “Imsai Arasan 23m Pulikesi,” and “Silandhi.” In 2012, she adopted the name Parvana for her appearances in Malayalam films. Surprisingly, in 2014, she made a significant life change by converting to Islam, adopting the name M. G. Rahima, and announcing her retirement from acting.

Monica’s personal life also saw notable changes. On May 30, 2014, she embraced Islam, taking on the name M. G. Raheema, with “M” representing Maruthi Raj (her father) and “G” representing Gracy (her mother).
