Actor and psychiatrist Mohan Agashe was born in India on July 23, 1947. In the theater, he received the 1996 Sangeet Natak Akademi Award. Bhor, Maharashtra, is where Agashe was born. He completed his MBBS and MD in psychiatry from B. J. Medical College in Pune. Prior to becoming an actor, he was a professor later in life.
Agashe worked as a psychiatrist professor at Pune’s Sassoon Hospital and B. J. Medical College. In addition to practicing medicine, he had positions in clinical psychology and psychopharmacology. Additionally, Agashe played a key role in the 1991 founding of the Maharashtra Institute of Mental Health, a state-level center for mental health sciences education and research in Pune, India.
Agashe led the five-year Indian Council of Medical Research study on the trauma of the Latur earthquake in 1993 Agashe chose to begin his career by choosing to work in a Pune government hospital. In addition, he presided over the sessions of the organizing committee for the Armed Forces Medical College in Pune, which hosted the Indian Psychiatric Society’s Annual National Conference.
The Maharashtra government created a new mental education strategy in 1998 as a result of Agashe’s initiative to enhance mental health education and services. Additionally, he has advised the Maharashtra government on mental health services and education. Agashe is currently the Principal Investigator of a collaborative Indo-US study on cultural disorders of weakness and fatigue.
Agashe’s career in theater began with a children’s play by Sai Paranjape. He took time out of his hectic schedule to work in plays since he loved performing. He began his acting career by performing in plays. He served as the Director General of the Pune-based Film and Television Institute of India from April 1997 until April 2002.
He performed in the play Jara Samjhun Ghya as part of the IMA’s awareness campaign to improve the doctor-patient bond in Pune. He also appeared in a Bharatiya Digital Party parody of Harry Potter in 2018, where he played Bumbledore. He also appeared in the Gorilla Shorts short film #PuranaPyaar.
