Mikey McCleary

Biography:

Mikey McCleary, a New Zealand songwriter, composer, performer, producer, and director, has been based in Mumbai, India, since 2007.

Renowned for his versatile talent, McCleary has lent his expertise to numerous advertisements for brands like Levi’s, Coca-Cola, and Vodafone, as well as films such as “Waiting,” “Margarita with a Straw,” “Shaitan,” and “Shanghai.”

Beyond his prolific work in ad-film soundtracks and Bollywood compositions, McCleary is celebrated for his reinterpretations of classic Bollywood songs under the alias The Bartender.

His notable works include “Khoya Khoya Chand” and “Hawa Hawai” from “Shaitan,” “Neend Na Mujhko Aaye” and “Eena Meena Deeka” from “Shaandaar,” among others. Additionally, he released an album titled “TV Dinners,” featuring full-length versions of popular advertisement jingles.

McCleary’s contributions to Bollywood extend to composing and producing tracks for various films, earning accolades such as the Best Composer Award at the Asian Film Awards for “Margarita with a Straw.”

In 2024, he ventured into the Indian pop scene by launching the all-girl group W.i.S.H., marking yet another milestone in his illustrious career.
