Michael Dowse
Biography:
Canadian director Michael Dowse was born on April 19, 1973. He was trained as a film editor and was born to Irish parents in London, Ontario. Despite having a small budget and being shot on a digital camera, his debut full-length film, FUBAR, was chosen by the Sundance Film Festival and exhibited at the esteemed midnight slot, which had already introduced the groundbreaking picture The Blair Witch Project. FUBAR went on to become a cult smash in Canada despite not being picked up by any big American theater distributors. After FUBAR’s success, Dowse directed the more expensive British film It’s All Gone Pete Tong, which tells the tale of a deaf DJ in Ibiza.
The 1980s retro comedy Take Me Home Tonight, Dowse’s next project, began filming in Phoenix, Arizona the week of February 19, 2007, and debuted in theaters on March 4, 2011. The F Word, directed by Dowse, starred Adam Driver, Zoe Kazan, and Daniel Radcliffe. Additionally, he directed Stuber, which starred Iko Uwais, Kumail Nanjiani, and Dave Bautista. An incident between an Uber driver and a nearly blind police officer is the subject of a movie. He started filming The Stunt Driver, a historical fact-based movie on stuntman Ken Carter, in 2025. At the moment, he, his wife, and their kids live in Montreal.
