Kausar Munir, a prominent figure in Bollywood, serves as an Indian lyricist and screenwriter. Born and raised in Bandra, Mumbai, she earned her degree in English Literature from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai.
In 1997, Munir entered matrimony with actor Nirmal Pandey, but their union faced a separation and eventual divorce in 2000. Subsequently, she tied the knot with Naveen Pandita in 2001, and together, they share a daughter named Sophie Pandita.
Embarking on her professional journey, Munir initially delved into media and research work. Her lyrical prowess took shape as she commenced her career in television, contributing to the script of the serial Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin. Her foray into Bollywood included notable songs like Falak Tak from the movie Tashan, and she continued to lend her lyrical talents to films such as Ishaqzaade, Ek Tha Tiger, Dhoom 3, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, and Dear Zindagi.
Beyond her role as a lyricist, Munir also served as a language consultant for the film English Vinglish. With a multifaceted career, she has penned numerous lyrics for Bollywood productions and expanded her horizons as a scriptwriter.
One of her noteworthy contributions is the official anthem for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, titled “Live the game!, Love the game!” The song, featuring music by Amit Trivedi and vocals from Sharvi Yadav and Anand Bhaskar, cleverly incorporates “Hinglish” at intervals while predominantly being in English.
