Biography:

Karunas, originally named Karunanidhi Sethu, is a versatile figure in the Tamil film industry, known for his prowess as an actor, comedian, and politician. Born on February 21, 1970, in Kuruvikkarambai, a village in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, India, he embarked on his journey in the entertainment world from an early age.

Initially recognized as a pop singer and dancer, Karunas earned the nickname “Gaana” Karunas for his contributions to Tamil folk music. His foray into acting began with television appearances, notably on Yuhi Sethu’s Naiyaandi Darbar show in the late 1990s. Director Bala noticed his talent and cast him in the comedy role of ‘Lodukku’ in the drama film “Nandha” (2001), marking his entry into the film industry.

Karunas garnered attention for his comedic timing and expressive performances, appearing in supporting roles in acclaimed films such as “Baba” (2002), “Pithamagan” (2003), “Vasool Raja MBBS” (2004), and “Polladhavan” (2007). His comedic roles earned him widespread recognition and paved the way for diverse opportunities in the industry.

In a surprising turn, Karunas transitioned to lead roles with the comedy drama “Dindigul Sarathy” (2008), portraying a character struggling with insecurities. The film’s success propelled him into further lead roles in comedies like “Ambasamudram Ambani” (2010) and “Chandhamama” (2013). Despite his success in lead roles, Karunas continued to showcase his versatility by taking on serious performances in films like “Ceylon” (2014) and “Azhagu Kutti Chellam” (2016).
