Indian actress, model, and film columnist Preetika Rao mainly works in Hindi television and commercials. Chikku Bukku (2010), a Tamil film, marked her acting debut. Rao’s most famous role was that of Aaliya Zain Abdullah in her 2013–14 television debut, Beintehaa, for which she won multiple awards, including the Gold Award for Best Debut-Female.
Rao was born in Karnataka’s Mangalore. She is from a Chitrapur Saraswat Brahmin family that speaks Konkani. She earned a diploma in journalism and advertising from Sophia College, where she majored in history. She contributed to the Deccan Chronicle, the Asian Age, and Bangalore Mirror. Amrita Rao, her older sister, is an actress in Bollywood.
She relocated to the US after making her acting debut in order to complete her broadcast journalism diploma program at the New York Film Academy in New York.
