Javed Siddiqui is an Indian dramatist, dialogue writer, and screenwriter who was born on January 13, 1942, and writes in Hindi and Urdu. He has penned more than fifty dialogues, scripts, and stories.
Siddiqi has worked with some of the most well-known directors in India during his career, including commercial directors like Yash Chopra and Subhash Ghai and independent filmmakers like Satyajit Ray and Shyam Benegal.
He is now a crucial component of Indian film, both in terms of mainstream and fine art filmmaking. Siddiqi is the recipient of one BFJA Award, two Star Screen Awards, and two Filmfare Awards. He declared in 2010 that he would be reviewing artists and their work on Tumbhi.
Javed Siddiqi relocated to Bombay (now Mumbai) in 1959 after earning his degree in Urdu literature from Rampur. There, he worked as a professional journalist for a number of Urdu newspapers, including Khilafat Daily and Inquilaab. He soon after became the editor of Urdu Reporter, his own newspaper.
In 1977, he made his screenplay debut in Satyajit Ray’s Shatranj Ke Khilari. Since then, he has gained recognition for his work in a variety of film genres, including commercial hits like Baazigar, Darr, Yeh Dillagi, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge
Raja Hindustani, Pardes, Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, and Koi… Mil Gaya, as well as art films from parallel cinema like Umrao Jaan, Mammo, Fiza, Zubeidaa, and Tehzeeb. Additionally, he has written the screenplays for other serials, including Yash Chopra’s Waqt, Ramesh Sippy’s Kismet, and Shyam Benegal’s Bharat Ek Khoj.
