Gnanasambandan Gurunathan, popularly known as G. Gnanasambandam, is a distinguished Indian professor, Tamil scholar, orator, and actor renowned for his contributions to Tamil cinema. Born on October 19, 1955, in Sholavandan, Madurai district, he initially served as a Professor of Tamil at Thiagarajar College in Madurai.

G. Gnanasambandam’s film career took off, and he became notable for his association with actor Kamal Haasan. His filmography boasts a diverse range of roles, with appearances in popular Tamil movies. Some of his notable films include “Virumaandi” (2004), “Siva Manasula Sakthi” (2009), “Uthama Villain” (2015), “Bigil” (2019), and “Soorarai Pottru” (2020), showcasing his versatility as an actor. He has also made contributions to Tamil television, with roles in shows like “Saravanan Meenatchi” (2016–2018), “Tamil Selvi” (2019), and “Enga Veetu Meenakshi” (2021–2022).

Apart from his acting career, Gnanasambandam is recognized as a prominent Tamil scholar and orator. He often chairs Tamil debate shows, known as Pattimandrams, where he showcases his eloquence and deep understanding of the language. In addition to his contributions to the entertainment industry, G. In 2005, he was honored with the Kalaimamani Award by the Tamil Nadu State Government.
