Indian film filmmaker Geetha Krishna has directed movies in Tamil and Telugu. With Nagarjuna in the lead role, he made his Telugu cinema debut with Sankeertana, for which he was awarded the Nandi Award for Best First cinema of a Director. He has since directed several Telugu and Tamil movies.
Sankeertana, Geetha Krishna’s debut film, was a musical love story starring Nagarjuna and Ramya Krishnan that defied religious taboos. He was awarded the Nandi Award for Best First Film of a Director, and the movie became a commercial success.
Following that, he directed Kokila, a crime-mystery with an eye transplant premise that was socially current in the late 1980s and received positive reviews from critics. After that, Geetha Krishna collaborated with Keechuraallu and Priyathama on two more experimental films exploring the topic of schizophrenia.
Following a hiatus, he returned in 1996 with Server Sundaramagaari Abbayi, a film that included heart transplantation as its central premise and for which he also wrote the soundtrack.
In 1999, he went on to direct Time, a Tamil movie starring Prabhu Deva and Simran. He started working on a bilingual project called Koffi Bar in the late 2000s; the Telugu version was released in 2011 and the Tamil version, Nimidangal, two years later.
He disclosed in 2013 that he was working on a 65-hour documentary that will chronicle Indian history beginning with the Indus Valley civilization. Geetha Krishna, who conducted a thorough investigation for the project, which she named My Country India Time Capsule, stated that leading technicians and artists would be involved.
