Biography:

B. R. Vijay Kumar, professionally known as Duniya Vijay and Duniya Viji, is a well-known Indian actor and film director recognized for his contributions to Kannada cinema. His acting journey began with minor roles, eventually leading to his breakthrough in the movie “Duniya” in 2007. Notable performances include roles in films like “Chanda” (2007), “Junglee” (2009), “Johny Mera Naam Preethi Mera Kaam” (2011), and “Jayammana Maga” (2013).

Vijay’s film career commenced with a part in Yograj Bhat’s “Ranga SSLC,” followed by appearances in films like “Jogi,” “Shree,” and “Ee Rajeev Gandhi Alla.” He also ventured into television roles. However, his turning point arrived with the movie “Duniya,” directed by his friend Soori. In the film, Vijay portrayed a naive village boy exploited by underworld criminals. This role earned him acclaim, including State and Filmfare awards.

He participated in various films, including “Yuga,” “Chanda,” and “Geleya” in 2007. While “Chanda” brought success, a dispute with the director of “Chanda” resulted in a temporary ban. He continued to act in diverse roles, including a semi-art film “Avva” and Sumana Kittur’s “Slum Bala.”

Throughout the following years, he featured in action-oriented movies like “Thaakath,” “Junglee,” and “Devru.” Notable successes include “Jarasandha,” “Johny Mera Naam Preethi Mera Kaam,” and “Veerabahu.” His performance in the critically acclaimed “Bheema Theeradalli” earned him praise.

However, his career faced challenges, including the unsuccessful “Rajanikantha” and an incident during the filming of “Masti Gudi” that led to a temporary ban. Despite setbacks, his career rebounded with successes like “Dana Kayonu,” “Kanaka,” and “Johnny Johnny Yes Papa.”

In 2021, he starred in the adult-oriented film “Kusti” alongside his son and made his directorial debut with “Salaga.”

Notably, Vijay was involved in controversies, such as the tragic incident during the filming of “Masti Gudi,” leading to a ban, and an arrest in 2018 over allegations of assault and abduction.
