Balasekaran is an Indian filmmaker and screenwriter who has made significant contributions to Tamil and Telugu cinema. He is best known for his work on the film “Love Today,” featuring the popular actor Vijay. Earlier in his career, he served as an assistant to the renowned director K. Balachander.
In addition to his work in feature films, Balasekaran has also ventured into the world of Tamil television, where he has worked as a writer on serials like “Nandini” and “Lakshmi Stores.”
Following the success of “Love Today,” Balasekaran embarked on a project titled “Sollamalae” for producer R. B. Choudary. However, he later decided to step away from the project. Interestingly, the producer went on to release a film with the same title but a different storyline in 1998.
Afterward, capitalizing on the relative success of his film “Thulli Thirindha Kaalam” in 1997, Kavithalayaa signed him up for another project titled “Uyirezhuthu.” Unfortunately, this project did not materialize as planned.
In mid-1998, Balasekaran commenced work on a film called “Solli Vidu” for Vivekananda Pictures. The film featured newcomers Raghuram, the son of producer Thiruppur Mani, and Simran initially. However, Simran was eventually replaced by Jyothika, who, in turn, was substituted by Poonam. Despite signing prominent actors like Raadhika, Raghuvaran, and Prakash Raj, the project was eventually shelved.
In 2003, Balasekaran was set to direct a film titled “Thillalangadi” for producer Prakash Raj, starring Prabhu Deva and Sneha. Regrettably, the film faced obstacles in its development and was eventually abandoned.
