August Rosenbaum is a Danish jazz pianist, record producer, and composer who was born in 1987. August Rosenbaum is a composer who has played at the renowned Sónar Festival, received two Danish Music Awards, and been shortlisted for the National Danish Critics’ Award and the Nordic Music Prize. Produced by Grammy-nominated producer Robin Hannibal, his 2017 album Vista and 2018 EP Rasa took home the “Best Alternative Album” prize at the Danish Music Awards. Together with artists Lea Guldditte Hestelund, Ea Verdoner, and Caecilie Trier, Rosenbaum displayed the expansive piece Celeste at Copenhagen Contemporary in 2021. Posh Isolation, a label located in Copenhagen, released the exhibition’s score.
Rosenbaum is also well-known for his partnerships with visual artist Jesper Just, Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon, Quadron, Rhye, and MØ. The Palais De Tokyo, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and the Royal Danish Ballet are just a few of the venues where he has commissioned pieces for film, theatre, and performances.
