Vijay Raghavendra is an Indian actor known for his work primarily in Kannada films. He is affectionately called “Chinnari Mutha” and comes from a family deeply rooted in the film industry. Vijay’s father is producer S. A. Chinne Gowda, and he is the nephew of the legendary actor Dr. Rajkumar.
Vijay began his acting journey as a child artist in films like “Chalisuva Modagalu” (1982), where he appeared alongside his uncle Rajkumar. He gained critical acclaim for his performances in “Chinnari Mutha” (1993) and “Kotreshi Kanasu” (1994), the latter winning him the National Film Award for Best Child Artist.
Transitioning into adult roles, Vijay’s career saw ups and downs until he found success with films like “Ninagagi” (2002) and “Kallarali Hoovagi” (2006). He won the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Puttaraj Gawai in “Shivayogi Sri Puttayyajja” (2016).
Vijay also made headlines by winning the first season of the reality show “Bigg Boss” in Kannada.
Born in Bangalore, Vijay comes from a family deeply rooted in the film industry. He is the eldest son of producer S. A. Chinne Gowda and is married to Spandana, with whom he has a son named Shourya. Tragically, Spandana passed away in 2023 due to a cardiac arrest while in Bangkok.
