Ashvin Raja, an Indian actor renowned for his appearances in Tamil language films, is the son of the late V. Swaminathan, a film producer associated with Lakshmi Movie Makers. Ashvin Raja, born into a film-producing family, has not only acted in Tamil films but also made cameo appearances in movies produced by his father. Unfortunately, V. Swaminathan succumbed to COVID-19 on August 10, 2020, marking the first casualty from the Tamil film industry due to the virus. The actor tied the knot with his girlfriend, Vidyashree, a practicing doctor, on June 24, 2020.
Ashvin made his debut in the film industry with the role of the student Paalpandi in Rajesh’s comedy film, “Boss Engira Bhaskaran” (2010). His noteworthy performance as an elephant herder in Prabhu Solomon’s “Kumki” (2012), alongside Vikram Prabhu and Thambi Ramaiah, received acclaim from film critics. Spending a dedicated sixty-six days on the film shoot, his success in “Kumki” earned him the moniker “Kumki Ashwin.”
In subsequent years, Ashvin took on smaller roles in films like “Thillu Mullu” and “Naiyaandi” in 2013, alongside Dhanush. He expanded his repertoire by venturing into the horror genre with “Maharani Kottai” (2015) and the comedy genre with “Narathan” (2016). In an interview, he expressed his willingness to take on negative roles without hesitation.
The year 2019 saw Ashvin in notable films such as “Jackpot” starring Jyothika and “Dhanusu Raasi Neyargale” featuring Harish Kalyan in a lead role.
