Indian actor Ashokan is well-known for his parts in Malayalam movies. Peruvazhiyambalam, his first motion picture, took home the 1979 National Film Award for Best Feature Film. His roles in Yuvajanotsavam (1986), Moonnam Pakkam (1988), Thoovanathumbikal (1987), In Harihar Nagar (1990), Amaram (1990), 2 Harihar Nagar (2009), and In Ghost House Inn (2010) are his most well-known.
In Padmarajan’s 1979 film Peruvazhiyambalam, he made his screen debut as a 15-year-old lad who kills a bully and goes on the run. Roles in Padmarajan’s films Moonnam Pakkam (1988), Thoovanathumbikal (1987), and Arappatta Kettiya Gramathil (1986) came next. He played the lead in Adoor Gopalakrishnan’s film Anantaram.
Ashokan was born on May 23, 1961, in Chingoli, Haripad, as the youngest of four children of the late Samudayathil N. P. Unnithan and Azhakath Savithri Kunjamma. His mother was a homemaker, and his father worked as a public prosecutor at the CBI. He was raised by his mother after losing his father when he was a small child. Ashokan went to Chingoli L.P. School for his elementary education, PMDUPS for his upper primary education, Cheppad for his high school education, and St. Thomas H. S. Karthikapally for his high school education. T. K. Madhava Memorial College in Nangiarkulangara, Haripad, is where he earned his arts degree. He received an offer for a post in Peruvazhiyambalam while he was in his first year of pre-degree studies.
