Anwesshaa, born as Anwesha Mita Dattagupta on December 15, 1993, is a versatile Indian singer and composer known for her work in various languages including Hindi, Bengali, Kannada, Tamil, Marathi, and more. She gained prominence at the age of 13 when she first appeared in the reality show “Amul STAR Voice of India, Chhote Ustaad.”
Born in Virar, Maharashtra, Anwesshaa moved to her hometown in Kolkata at the age of four. She pursued her education at Lycée School, Kolkata, and later completed her graduation from Amity University.
Anwesshaa’s musical journey began in 2007 when she made her first appearance on national television. She started her playback singing career with the Bengali film “Khela” (2008), where she sang the song “Ek Je Achhe Raja.” Her breakthrough in Bollywood came at the age of 14 with the film “Golmaal Returns,” where she collaborated with composer Pritam Chakraborty.
Throughout her career, Anwesshaa has recorded songs for numerous films in Hindi, Bengali, and various other languages. Some of the notable films include ‘I am 24,’ ‘Raanjhanaa,’ ‘Revolver Rani,’ ‘Dangerous Ishq,’ ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo,’ and many more. Her versatile voice has made her a sought-after playback singer, and she has contributed to around 500 movies across different languages.
Apart from her singing career, Anwesshaa showcased her talent in composing by creating music and background score for the Marathi film “Pahije Jatiche” in 2023, marking her debut in Marathi cinema.
Her musical prowess has earned her honors, including the Filmfare Award (East). Anwesshaa’s dedication to music has made her a prominent figure in the Indian music industry, and her contributions span a wide range of languages, reflecting her versatility and passion for the art.
