Sinha was born in Jamalpur, Bihar, to parents Prem Govind Sinha and Sushila Sinha. He received his education in various places, including Kalagarh in Garhwal, Government Inter College in Allahabad, and Queen’s College in Varanasi. Sinha obtained his degree in Mechanical Engineering from The Aligarh Muslim University in 1987.
After spending two years as a theater artist in New Delhi, Sinha relocated to Mumbai on December 4, 1990. He initially worked as an assistant director under Pankaj Parashar until 1994, after which he embarked on his independent journey as a television director for Zee TV. He gained recognition for his contributions to the flagship show “Shikast” on the Mumbai TV network. Following this, he created the TV series “Sea Hawks” for UTV, which remained the top-rated show for 35 consecutive weeks across all networks. After directing 72 episodes, he shifted his focus to directing music videos.
In 2000, Sinha transitioned from music videos to directing his debut feature film “Tum Bin.” The film starred Priyanshu Chatterjee, Sandali Sinha, Himanshu Malik, and Raqesh Vashisth. It achieved considerable success at the box office and has since gained a revered status.
His second feature film, “Aapko Pehle Bhi Kahin Dekha Hai,” featured Priyanshu Chatterjee and Sakshi Shivanand. Sinha’s third film, the ensemble cast film “Dus,” secured the eighth spot in the list of highest-grossing films in 2005. This was followed by “Tathastu” (2006) and “Cash” (2007).
