Biography:

Anil Sharma is an Indian film director, producer, and screenwriter who is primarily known for his work in Hindi cinema. He was born on March 4, 1955, in Amritsar, Punjab, India.

Anil Sharma started his career in the film industry as an assistant director, working with renowned filmmakers like Manmohan Desai and Hrishikesh Mukherjee. He gained experience and knowledge about filmmaking before venturing into directing his own films.

In 1981, Anil Sharma made his directorial debut with the film “Shraddhanjali.” However, it was his second film, “Hukumat” (1987), that established him as a director to watch out for. The film, starring Dharmendra and Rati Agnihotri, became a huge success at the box office and established a successful director-actor partnership between Anil Sharma and Dharmendra.

Throughout his career, Anil Sharma has directed and produced numerous successful films across various genres. Some of his notable works include “Gadar: Ek Prem Katha” (2001), which starred Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel and became one of the highest-grossing films in Indian cinema, “The Hero: Love Story of a Spy” (2003), “Apne” (2007), and “Veer” (2010), among others. These films showcased his ability to create mass-appealing entertainers with a mix of action, drama, and emotional storytelling.
