American film filmmaker, television director, television producer, and screenwriter Alexander John Graves was born on July 23, 1965. The birthplace of Alex Graves is Kansas City, Missouri. His mother, Alexandra “Sandy” Graves, was employed by Kansas Senator Nancy Kassebaum, while his father, William Graves, was a reporter for The Kansas City Star. When he was a child, his father became a partner in the family pharmacy, and the family relocated to El Dorado, Kansas, his father’s hometown. Growing up, Graves made films on Super 8. He later studied at the University of Kansas and the University of Southern California, where he graduated with a BA in Film Production.
