Biography:

Vignesh Shivan, born on 18th September 1985, is a versatile figure in the realm of Indian cinema. His multifaceted talents extend across roles such as film director, producer, actor, singer, and lyricist, primarily contributing to the vibrant landscape of Tamil cinema with films spanning various genres. Shivan’s educational journey took root at Santhome Higher Secondary School in Mylapore, Chennai.

Later, he continued his studies at Vanavani Matriculation Higher Secondary School, affiliated with the prestigious IIT Madras. A significant chapter in Vignesh Shivan’s personal life unfolds with his relationship with actress Nayanthara. Their love story commenced during their collaboration on the film “Naanum Rowdy Dhaan” in 2015. The couple publicly announced their engagement in 2021 and subsequently tied the knot on June 9, 2022, at the Sheraton Grand in Mahabalipuram.

The duo welcomed twin boys on September 26, 2022, through surrogacy. Shivan’s entry into the film industry involved collaboration with composer Dharan. This collaboration led to discussions with producers Gemini Film Circuit and actor Silambarasan, resulting in the creation of the feature film “Podaa Podi” (2012). Despite a prolonged production period, the film eventually saw the light of day in October 2012, garnering mixed reviews.

While navigating the challenges of film production, Vignesh Shivan diversified his involvement in the industry. He explored roles as a lyricist, contributed to independent music videos, and made a cameo appearance as an engineer in the film “Velaiyilla Pattathari” (2014) alongside Dhanush. Shivan’s second directorial venture, “Naanum Rowdy Dhaan” (2015), underwent several transformations in terms of cast and production studios.

The film solidified with Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara as lead actors, with Dhanush stepping in as the producer. For his third directorial project, “Thaanaa Serndha Koottam” (2018), Shivan joined forces with Suriya and Keerthy Suresh. The musical landscape of the film was crafted by Anirudh Ravichander. Beyond directing, Shivan and Nayanthara embarked on a new venture, Rowdy Pictures.
