Indian actress and television host Pooja Vijay, best known by her stage name Swasika, was born on November 5, 1991. In addition to a few Tamil films, she primarily plays supporting parts in Malayalam movies and TV shows. Her roles in Vasanthi (2021), Kumari (2022), Vivekanandan Viralanu (2024), and Lubber Pandhu (2024) have made her famous.
Born in Perumbavoor, Ernakulam, Kerala, Swasika (Pooja Vijay) is the daughter of Girija and Attupurath Vijayakumar, a Bahraini accountant. Akash is her brother. She started dance lessons after earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in literature. On January 26, 2024, she and Prem Jacob were married.
Her character was based on a real person in Sundarapandi’s love story Vaigai, which was her debut feature. She later performed the second lead in Rasu Madhuravan’s Goripalayam (2010). When she acted in the movie, she was still a student. Both critics and viewers gave her third picture, Maithanam (2011), favorable reviews. She played a village girl, who “values culture and tradition” in the film. In her next venture, Kandathum Kanathathum by director Seelan, she played a “city-bred college girl”. She made her Malayalam debut with Cinema Company (2012) and was the lead actress in Sajeevan Anthikkad’s Prabhuvinte Makkal (2012).
