Sheeba Chaddha, born in 1963, is an Indian actress known for her work in films, stage productions, and television. She received nominations for the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for her roles in the 2022 films “Badhaai Do” and “Doctor G,” winning for her performance in the former.
Raised in Delhi, Chaddha developed a passion for theater and began attending theater workshops. She pursued English literature at Hans Raj College (University of Delhi), where she was classmates with Anurag Kashyap.
Chaddha has played character roles in several films, including “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam” (1999), “Parzania” (2007), “Delhi 6” (2009), “Luck by Chance” (2009), and “Talaash” (2012). She also appeared in the short film “Prakata Het Yad,” which won the Audience Choice award at the River to River. Florence Indian Film Festival in 2011. In 2015, she gained acclaim for her role as Nain Tara Tiwary (Buaji) in Sharat Katariya’s “Dum Laga Ke Haisha.”
In television, Chaddha appeared in shows like “Love Marriage” (2002) and later returned in 2007 to play a business tycoon in “Kasturi.” Her television credits also include series like “Na Aana Is Des Laado” (2009–2012), “Kitani Mohabbat Hai” (2009), “Kahani Saat Pheron Ki” (2007), “Kuch Toh Log Kahenge” (2011–2013), and “Lakhon Mein Ek” (2012). She joined the cast of the popular television series “Hitler Didi” on Zee TV in June 2012.
Chaddha has also showcased her talent in stage productions, including Rajat Kapoor’s “C for Clown” (2007) and Atul Kumar’s “The Blue Mug” (2010), where she worked alongside Kapoor, Munish Bhardwaj, Vinay Pathak, Konkona Sen Sharma, and Ranvir Shorey. She played Desdimona in Roysten Abel’s “Othello in Black & White” and portrayed the lead role of Hedda in a 2012 production of Henrik Ibsen’s “Hedda Gabler.” Additionally, she is involved in “The Company Theatre,” a theater group based in Mumbai.
Currently, Chaddha is associated with the internet television series “Permanent Roommates” produced by The Viral Fever (TVF).
