Biography:

Indian actress, model, and politician Namitha Vankawala primarily appears in Tamil and Telugu films, however she has also appeared in a few Kannada and Malayalam productions. She is a Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) state executive member for Tamil Nadu.

Namitha began her career as a beauty pageant competitor and, at the age of 17, won the title of Miss Surat in 1998. She later competed in the 2001 Miss India pageant and placed third runner-up, with Celina Jaitley winning the title of Miss India. She moved to Mumbai as a result of the attention she received from the competition, and she soon began acting in TV advertisements for brands including Himani cream and hand soap, Arun ice creams, Manikchand Gutka, and Nile Herbal Shampoo. She enrolled in an English Literature study after failing to break into the Hindi film industry, thought about going back to Surat, but decided to accept an invitation to test out for a Telugu movie instead.

After getting chosen, she subsequently made her acting debut in Sontham (2002), a romantic coming-of-age movie directed by Sreenu Vaitla. In her subsequent film, Gemeni (2002), directed by Saran and starring Venkatesh, she received critical acclaim for her depiction of a Marwardi girl. She also briefly used the stage name “Bhairavi” for the movie, although she afterwards went back to using her real name.

She rose to fame in Tamil language films in the middle of the 2000s thanks to her mature appearance and towering stature, which led directors to pair her up with actors their own age like Vijayakanth, Sathyaraj, Arjun, Parthiban, Sundar C, and Sarathkumar.

She co-starred with these stars in a number of mainstream action films, including Aai (2005), Chanakya (2005), and Aanai (2005). She also frequently appeared in comedies starring veteran actors, including Sakthi Chidambaram’s six comic dramas and Siddique’s Engal Anna (2004). During that time, she shot for the English film Maya, which was eventually released in 2008 as Kamasutra Nights, worked on the Kannda film Namitha, I Love You, and had her acting debut in Love Ke Chakkar Mein.[8] She had the chance to collaborate with two prominent actors from Tamil cinema in 2007, playing alongside Vijay in the A. R. Rahman musical Azhagiya Tamil Magan (2007) and Ajith Kumar in the gangster movie Billa (2007), both directed by Vishnuvardhan.

on the early 2010s, she briefly put her work on Kannada films ahead of other projects as several of them, including Ilamai Oonjal (2016), experienced development difficulties. She declared her intention to return to the film industry in 2016 after a period of time without any new film releases.

Namitha made an appearance on the Kamal Haasan-hosted Tamil reality programme Bigg Boss in 2017. She received a lot of flak for treating actress Oviya harshly while she was on the show. She will portray the antagonist in T. Rajender’s forthcoming film, Indraya Kadhal Da.
