Govind Vasantha, born on October 29, 1988, is a versatile Indian composer, singer, and violinist renowned for his contributions to the music of Malayalam and Tamil films. Beyond his individual endeavors, he is a pivotal member of the musical band Thaikkudam Bridge, where his roles extend to that of a vocalist and violinist. Notably, his exceptional work on the film 96 earned him the prestigious Filmfare Award for Best Music Director – Tamil.

Hailing from a musically enriched family in Irinjalakuda, Thrissur, Kerala, Govind’s exposure to the world of music began early in life. His father, Peethambaran, is deeply connected to music, and Govind’s uncle, Gopinathan, was a prominent Carnatic musician. This familial influence played a crucial role in shaping Govind’s musical journey. In an effort to transcend caste boundaries and promote equality, Govind chose to adopt his mother’s name, leading to the transformation of his surname from Menon to Vasantha.

This symbolic gesture was unveiled by Vijay Sethupathi during a television show, emphasizing the importance of fostering inclusivity even in the realm of names.
