Prabhas’s recent release, Radhe Shyam, has been one of the most highly anticipated films in India for the past few years. The film got delayed due to the pandemic and various other reasons and was finally released on March 11th. There were hygge expectations on the film, which the film failed to reach up to, upon release, with a mixed response dominating it.
On the other hand, a major surprise has caused further damage to the film. The Kashmir Files, directed by Vivek Agnihotri, was also released on March 11th, and the film was grossly underestimated by everyone, in terms of its performance. However, the film is taking everyone by surprise, as it has awoken a nationalist sentiment in the people of the country, given that it focuses on the mass Hindu genocide in the Kashmir valley, in the last 1980s and early 1990s.
On the whole, Radhe Shyam is losing out heavily, even in the Telugu states, with Prasads allotting its big screen to The Kashmir Files today, pushing Radhe Shyam to ordinary screens. It is now to be seen how much further the film would be affected.
