Kanguva

Story:

The next Tamil-language period action drama film Kanguva (Man with the Power of Fire), also known and promoted as Kanguva: A Mighty Valiant Saga, is directed by Siva and written by Adi Narayana. Under the names Studio Green and UV Creations, it is made by K. E. Gnanavel Raja, V. Vamsi Krishna Reddy, and Pramod Uppalapati. Suriya, who plays five different characters in the movie, is joined by Yogi Babu, Redin Kingsley, Kovai Sarala, Anandaraj, Ravi Raghavendra, K. S. Ravikumar, and B. S. Avinash, all of whom are making their Tamil cinema debuts.

Suriya 39, the working title of the project, was first revealed in April 2019; it was the actor’s 39th main role. In January 2021, pre-production started. It was planned for the production to begin following Suriya’s completion of Soorarai Pottru (2020). However, Siva’s appointment as Annaatthe’s director (2021) caused a delay. Later, the project was shelved when filming was postponed. Later, in January 2022, Suriya said that the movie was still in production. The movie was the most expensive one that Gnanavel Raja had ever made, thus at one time he decided against producing it. Later, Raja opted to co-produce it with UV Creations after UV Creations agreed to take it on.

In August of that same year, the movie received a new announcement and was given the working title Suriya 42 since it was Suriya’s 42nd movie in a main role. That month, Chennai hosted the start of principal photography, which is anticipated to wrap up in November 2023. Additionally, it was filmed in various Goa, Kerala, and Kodaikanal sites. In April 2023, Kanguva as a title, was unveiled. Devi Sri Prasad, Vetri Palanisamy, and Nishadh Yusuf make up the technical team in the roles of musician, cinematographer, and editor, respectively. Kanguva, which cost 350 crores ($44 million), is the fifth-most costly Indian movie ever made.

Early 2024 will see the theatrical release of both the 2D and 3D versions of Kanguva.
