Story:

Hrishikesh Gupte is the writer and director of the 2025 Indian Marathi-language psychological thriller Jarann. Starring Amruta Subhash, Anita Date-Kelkar, Kishor Kadam, Jyoti Malshe, and Avanee Joshi, it was produced by Anees Bazmee Productions, A & N Cinema’s LLP, and A3 Events & Media Services.

The film, which examines themes of psychological agony, black magic, and ancient beliefs set in a secluded town, was premiered in theatres throughout India on June 6, 2025. The film’s narrative and performances—especially those of Amruta—are commended.

Radha (Amruta Subhash) arrives to her ancestral home in the village with her daughter Saie (Avanee Joshi). Radha starts acting oddly after finding an old doll there. Her strange behaviour persists even after she gets back home. It is discovered that Radha has been receiving treatment from psychiatrist Dr. Dhananjay Kulkarni (Kishor Kadam) for a considerable amount of time and has displayed these symptoms since childhood. Later on, she goes to Dr. Rashmi Pandit (Jyoti Malshe) for therapy.

Saie, meantime, claims that the doll speaks to her when she begins to play with it. Snehal Shidam, the family’s housekeeper, also feels uneasy about it. After Radha describes a childhood experience, Dr. Rashmi gets in touch with Dr. Dhananjay. This leads to additional disclosures from Radha’s parents (Rajan Bhise and Seema Deshmukh), her husband Shekhar (Vikram Gaikwad), and Dr. Kulkarni.

According to the narrative, Radha thought as a youngster that Ganguti (Anita Date-Kelkar), a woman who lived on the upper level of their family home, had used black magic on her. After Radha married Shekhar, her episodes returned, despite a brief improvement in her condition. The fact that Saie is not Radha’s biological daughter is also disclosed.The story then delves into Radha’s eventual recovery from her recurrent illness and the significance of the enigmatic doll in her and Saie’s lives.
