TheatreGouravam, released in 2013, is an Indian social thriller film directed and written by Radha Mohan. Produced by Prakash Raj for Duet Movies, the movie is Allu Sirish’s debut, starring alongside Yami Gautam in her Tamil introduction. The film, shot in Tamil and Telugu simultaneously, delves into the sensitive topic of honour killing. Plot
Arjun, a wealthy man, is tasked by his father to handle some business affairs. While returning to the airport, he stumbles upon T. Vennure, the village of his best friend Shanmugam. Arjun discovers that Shanmugam has eloped with Rajeshwari, the daughter of Pasupathy, a wealthy landlord determined to uphold his family’s honor. Shanmugam has been missing for six months. After learning some harsh truths about Shanmugam from his father, Arjun decides to stay in the village and search for his lost friend. A young lawyer named Yazhini/Yamini assists him in his quest. Despite facing opposition from Pasupathy’s son Saravanan/Jagapathi and Palani/Rambabu, Arjun, along with his friend Venky and Yazhini, gathers their college friends and local youths to unveil the mystery behind Shanmugam and Rajeshwari’s disappearance. The investigation reveals that the couple was killed and buried near a damaged monument. Arjun remains in the village to uncover the motive behind their deaths. With support from Pasupathy’s wife and daughter-in-law, Arjun, with the help of Yazhini, files a case. Despite numerous interruptions from Saravanan/Jagapathi’s associates, including the local police, Arjun and his friends persist in pursuing justice. At the request of Pasupathy’s wife, Palani/Rambabu eventually pledges to assist Arjun in solving the mystery. True to his word, Palani/Rambabu recounts the actual events that transpired.
