Theatre“Dora,” the 2017 Tamil supernatural thriller directed by Doss Ramasamy and produced by A. Sarkunam, features Nayanthara in the lead role. Despite its negative critical reception upon its release on March 31, 2017, the film weaves a gripping tale. Pavalakkodi and her devoted father, Vairakannu, living in a modest home, encounter a series of mysterious events that unfold into a dark narrative.
The story takes a chilling turn when a nearby robbery and murder prompt ACP Harish to investigate. Simultaneously, Pavalakkodi confronts familial challenges as she strives to fulfill her father’s wish of visiting the Kuladevi temple. The acquisition of a vintage car, MDS 13, triggers supernatural occurrences, linking the vehicle to a dog named Dora.
The plot thickens as Pavalakkodi unravels the car’s connection to a tragic past. Dora’s owner, a girl who donated her heart to Pavalakkodi, becomes the focal point of a vengeful quest against criminals. The film reaches its climax with a confrontation, injuries, and the intervention of the Hindu god Bhairava, culminating in the defeat of the main culprit, Mukesh Yadav.
In the end, Pavalakkodi and Dora return home triumphant, having avenged the girl’s murder by vanquishing all three criminals. Despite its critical reception, “Dora” captivates with its supernatural twists and a tale of retribution.
