Kishanchand Khanna, a textile, dye, and chemical entrepreneur, was the father of Indian actor, producer, and politician Vinod Khanna. After attending St. Mary’s School in Mumbai, the family relocated to Delhi in 1957, where he attended Delhi Public School. He has a commerce degree from Sydenham College in Nashik.
He made his film debut as an antagonist in Man Ka Meet (1968), but Hum Tum Aur Woh (1971) gave him his big break as the main character. He became well-known with the 1974 film Haath Ki Safai, for which he won the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor award. He won Filmfare Best Actor for the 1980 film Qurbani and was nominated for Filmfare Best Supporting Actor for Hera Pheri (1977) and Muqaddar Ka Sikander (1978).
In addition, Vinod Khanna starred in films like as Khoon Ka Karz (1991), Humshakals (1992), Ekka Raja Rani (1994), Dus (1997), Kranti (2002), and Chandni (1989). Recently, he appeared in movies such as Hero (2015), Ramaiyya Vastavaiya (2013), Dabangg (2010), Dabangg 2 (2012), Godfather (2007), and Wanted (2009).
