Vikrant Massey, born on April 3, 1987, is an Indian actor known for his appearances in Hindi television shows, films, and web series. He marked his entry into acting by portraying Aamir Hassan in Dhoom Machaao Dhoom. His popularity soared through his roles as Dharam in Dharam Veer, Murli Laal in Baba Aiso Varr Dhoondo, and Ayaan Ahmed Khan in Qubool Hai.
Born to Jolly and Meena, Vikrant Massey grew up in Nagbhid, a small town in Maharashtra’s Vidarbha region, within a middle-class family. He was raised as a Roman Catholic and has an elder brother named Mohsin. While his paternal family practices Christianity, his maternal family follows Sikhism.
Vikrant Massey’s educational journey involved attending St. Anthony’s High School in Versova and pursuing further studies at R. D. National College of Arts & Science in Bandra, Mumbai. He started his exploration of performing arts at the age of 7 with dance and theater performances. Encouraged by his teachers and school principal, he embraced performing arts as his career choice from a young age. His leisure activities include traveling, playing cricket, and video games.
Massey is a trained modern contemporary and modern jazz dancer. He collaborated with Shiamak Davar and even worked as a choreographer on the show Dhoom Machaao Dhoom.
In the television realm, he portrayed Shyam Madan Singh in the successful show Balika Vadhu on Colors TV. He also took on the lead role of Murli, Bharti’s husband, in Nikhil Sinha and Rakesh Paswan’s Baba Aiso Varr Dhoondo on NDTV Imagine. Additionally, he was part of Disney Channel India’s Dhoom Machaao Dhoom, Star Plus’s Kahaan Hoon Main (which wasn’t aired), and played the character Dharam in NDTV Imagine’s Dharam Veer.
Vikrant Massey’s Bollywood debut occurred in Vikramaditya Motwane’s film Lootera (2013), where he acted alongside Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha. He achieved his first lead role in A Death in the Gunj, directed by Konkana Sen Sharma, receiving praise for both his performance and the film. He earned a nomination for the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor for this role.
Massey’s involvement in web series includes Mirzapur, Broken But Beautiful, Criminal Justice directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia and Vishal Furia, and Made In Heaven, centered around wedding planners in Delhi. He featured opposite Shweta Tripathi in the science fiction film Cargo, directed and written by Arati Kadav. The film premiered at the 2019 MAMI Film Festival and later on Netflix on September 9, 2020.
In 2020, he starred alongside Deepika Padukone in Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak. He also appeared with Yami Gautam in Ginny Weds Sunny, a Netflix release directed by Puneet Khanna and produced by Vinod Bachchan.
