Biography:

Vijayalakshmi is an Indian actress known for her work in Kannada and Tamil cinema. She was born in Madras (now Chennai) and completed her studies in Bangalore, Karnataka. Her mother tongue is Tamil, and she has a sister named Usha. Vijayalakshmi made her acting debut in the Kannada film “Nagamandala,” directed by T. S. Nagabharana, for which she won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress in Kannada in 1997.

Over the course of her career, she appeared in around 40 films, including 25 Kannada films. She gained recognition for her beauty and acting prowess. In addition to Kannada cinema, she ventured into Tamil films with “Poonthottam” and achieved significant success with “Friends,” starring alongside Vijay and Suriya. She also appeared in Telugu and Malayalam films.

In her personal life, Vijayalakshmi faced some challenging situations, including a reported suicide attempt in 2006 due to harassment by an assistant director. She was briefly engaged to actor Srujan Lokesh but later called off the engagement. In 2020, she filed a complaint against Seeman, accusing him of cheating and harassment. Unfortunately, she made another suicide attempt in July 2020 after alleged harassment by Seeman and his supporters, leading to her hospitalization.
