A Telugu cinema producer, presenter, and distributor by the name of Doraswamy Raju. His company, Vijay Maruti Creative Private Limited, is located in Hyderabad, Telangana, which was formerly Andhra Pradesh. He makes Telugu films in the comedy, romance, thriller, and devotional genres. In 1978, Doraswamy founded the VMC Productions, a company that makes Telugu films and television shows. Through its own distribution division, VMC Distributors, it also distributes films and television shows in the area. VMC Distributors now has the distribution rights to “Guru Shishyulu”, “Premaabhishekam”, “Auto Driver”, and “Chinna Alludu” in addition to its own films. On November 9th, 1987, Doraswamy released “Kirai Dada,” a remake of the Hindi film “Jaal” from 1986.He later created “Seetharamiah Gari Manavaralu” in 1991. The Telugu short novel “Navvina Kanneelle” by Manasa served as its inspiration. Three South Filmfare Awards and four Nandi Awards were given to this movie. The movie was shown in 1991 at the India International Film Festival. Additionally, it was remade as “Sandhwanam” in 1991, “Velli Modagalu” in 1993, and “Udhaar Ki Zindagi” in 1994, respectively, in Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. Then, in 1992, Doraswamy created “President Gari Pellam” or the President’s wife, a Tamil-dubbed film. A religious biography based on the musician Annamacharya from the 15th century, “Annamaya” by Doraswamy was another big movie that year.
The movie was well-received by critics and won National Film Awards in two categories, three Filmfare Awards, and eight Nandi Awards. In 1998, it made its debut at the International Film Festival of India in the mainstream division. In particular, Doraswamy won the Nandi Award for Best Film Award in the Gold category and the Telugu Filmfare Best Film Award. His most popular movie was by far this one. The movie album continues to be the most popular Telugu album of all time. The film was shown for one hundred days in 42 theatres and for one hundred and seventy-six days in 2 theatres.”English Pellam Eastgodavari Mogudo” was created and published in 1999. In 2003, he released “Simhadri,” which again received positive reviews from critics and grossed INR 550 million at the box office, or INR 1.5 billion now. It was shown for 200 days in 25 locations. While the film’s budget was only INR 5.5 crores, Dorswamy sold the distribution rights for INR 15.5 crores. Following that, Doraswamy created the films “Kochem Touchlo Vunte Cheputanu” in 2004, “Vengamamba” in 2009, “Uyyaale” in Kannada in 2009, “Sri Vasavi Vaibhavam” in 2012, and “Vijeta” in 2016.
After experiencing a heart arrest, Raju passed away on January 18, 2021 at a private hospital in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad.S. S. Rajamouli, Aswani Dutt, and Murali Mohan, among other filmmakers, paid their final tributes to Raju.
