V. A. Dilshad was an accomplished Indian cinematographer who worked across Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, and English-language films.
On May 27, 2021, Dilshad passed away in Mumbai after being hospitalized for over a month due to COVID-19. His career began as an assistant and associate cameraman to Ramachandra Babu, working on more than 40 films. He later collaborated with Ravi Yadav as a second operative cameraman on several Bollywood films directed by Abbas–Mustan, including Race 2, Players, Race, Naqaab, and Aitraaz.
Dilshad made his Hindi debut with The Waiting Room, directed by Maneej Premnath, which was praised for its “master cinematography that captures the mood almost perfectly.” He also completed the Marathi film Antar, produced by actor Akshay Kumar, and the English film The Black Russian, which earned the Best Cinematography award at the 2014 Action on Film Festival.
Dilshad was the cinematographer for Kapil Sharma’s debut film Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon and Machine, starring newcomers Mustafa Burmawalla and Kiara Advani, both directed by Abbas–Mustan. He also worked on two films slated for theatrical release in 2022: Escape from Black Water (English) and Fatwa (Marathi).
