Biography:

Thekla Simona Gelsomina Reuten, born on 16 September 1975 in Bussum, Netherlands, is a distinguished Dutch actress recognized for her versatile talent across film, television, and theatre. She comes from a culturally rich background — her father, Joost Reuten, is Dutch, while her mother hails from Benabbio, a picturesque village near Bagni di Lucca in Italy. This multicultural heritage has not only influenced her artistic sensibilities but also contributed to her fluency in five languages: Dutch, Italian, English, German, and French.

Reuten pursued her formal acting education at the Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten (Amsterdam University of the Arts), where she began landing leading roles in film and theatre during her final year. Her breakthrough performance came in the 2002 film Twin Sisters, where her portrayal of Lotte earned her critical acclaim and the Shooting Star Award at the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale). The film itself went on to receive an Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Language Film, marking her arrival on the international scene.

Her filmography spans both European and Hollywood productions. She starred alongside Colin Farrell in In Bruges and appeared with George Clooney in The American, two performances that further solidified her global presence.
