Tahira Kashyap is a writer, producer, and director from India. After graduating from Yadavindra Public School in Mohali, she moved on to Punjab University in Chandigarh to obtain a degree in journalism and mass communication. The same university also awarded her a Master’s degree in mass communication.
Before becoming a professor of mass communication at Mithibai College in Mumbai, Kashyap began her career as the head of programming at the radio station BIG 92.7 FM.
After that, she pursued writing, and in 2011 her debut novel, I Promise, was released. Since then, she has authored a number of publications, such as The 12 Commandments of Being a Woman, Souled Out, and Cracking the Code.
Toffee (2017) was a short film that Kashyap directed for the first time in 2017. In the story, two girls from quite different worlds are brought together by a common sense of freedom and optimism.
Zindagi inShort (2020), an anthology of seven stories about seven different people and their everyday lives, was her next project as a director. After that, she directed Sharmajee Ki Beti (2024), which starred Divya Dutta and Saiyami Kher.
As an advocate for breast cancer awareness, Kashyap has been candid about her experience with the disease. She has spoken about her experience with cancer and detailed it in her book, The 12 Commandments of Being a Woman.
Actor Ayushmann Khurrana and Kashyap are married, and the two of them have two kids. When they were still in school, the couple met at physics lessons and became childhood sweethearts.
